No less than four people have dead after a whale watching boat with 27 people on board sank off Vancouver Island, Canadian authorities have said.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Center affirmed that the vessel made a mayday call in a matter of seconds before 4pm on Sunday close Tofino, British Columbia.

“The search continues to locate people unaccounted for,” said Lieutenant Commander Desmond James of the Canadian Coast Guard. As indicated by supporter CTV, five people are missing and 11 have been hospitalized, some in serious condition.

Jenn Hamilton, a representative for British Columbia Emergency Health Services said she didn’t have further points of interest including nationalities of the expired.

She didn’t know how far away the coast of British Columbia the boat sank. Five ambulances were dispatched and many off duty paramedics went to the dock to offer, she some assistance with saying.

Asked what number of were dead, British Columbia Coroner representative Barb McLintock prior said in an email: “Different however we don’t yet have a firm number. Still an exceptionally liquid circumstance so we truly are not certain yet.”
