Raksha Bandhan Movie Review & 5 Days Box office Collection When players are out of form, they are advised to spend some time at home. It seems directors Aanand L Rai and Akshay Kumar heeded the advice and turned into a festive crowd-pleaser that celebrates the brother-sister bond, and scathing remarks on dowry.

The film might seem like a retrograde idea wrapped in an old package as seen through the trailer. It has been three decades since the Hindi film industry asked Yeh Aag Kab Bujhegi (1991). Despite stringent laws, dowry deaths continue to happen, but they have stopped grabbing headlines or inspiring filmmakers.

Raksha Bandhan Movie Story:

Responsibility for the four sisters’ marriage rests on the shoulders of Lala Kedarnath, the eldest and only brother. What follows are his relentless efforts to ensure his sisters settled down in marriage before marrying Sapna, his childhood sweetheart. Will he be able to keep his promises, or does fate have other plans for him?

Raksha Bandhan Movie Review:

The film takes off quickly in the locales of Chandni Chowk, where Lala Kedarnath (Akshay Kumar) owns a pushtaini gol gappa (panipuri) shop. He is popular, especially among the pregnant women who believe that after gulping down gol gappas from his shop, they will possibly give birth to a baby boy. Even in his personal life, he is surrounded by a gang of four sisters— sensible and responsible Gayatri (Sadia Khateeb), chubby Durga (Deepika Khanna), dusky Laxmi (Smrithi Srikanth), and tomboyish Saraswati (Sahejmeen Kaur) — and, of course, his girlfriend, Sapna (Bhumi Pednekar).
‘Raksha Bandhan’ depicts the stories of the people of small towns of India, and in that endeavor, it entertains especially in the first part. However, the story of the bond between the siblings soon turns into a social commentary about dowry, which takes up much of this 110-minute film. This very emotional drama does not even touch you,

But it had the potential to be a far more entertaining watch. Akshay has effectively expressed the many emotions of his character Lala at different points in the film. Be it the role of a helpless brother or a committed lover, the actor is in form all the time. Bhumi Pednekar as Sapna works with full confidence. But her on-screen chemistry was better in her previous outing with Akshay Kumar. The four sisters—Deepika Khanna, Saadia Khatib as well as debutants Sahjamin Kaur and Smriti Srikkanth—have provided great support and consistently brought a good dose of comedy. Seema Pahwa is effective in her limited role as a matchmaker.

The lifetime collection of Raksha Bandhan will be less than Akshay’s previous release Samrat Prithviraj, and will be more or less in the same category as Bachchan Pandey. Considering the trend going on over the weekend, it will come as no surprise that the Parsi New Year holiday crashed on Tuesday even though it had marginal gains.
