In just a few hours from now, Oppo will announce a new series in India with a new smartphone. The Oppo K1, which is part of the new K-series, will be launching in India at an event in New Delhi starting 12pm. The Oppo K1 is a mid-range smartphone that has been launched in China already. It is notably the company’s most affordable smartphone with an in-display fingerprint sensor. In fact, if priced right, the Oppo K1 is set to be the cheapest phone with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Apart from an in-display fingerprint sensor, the Oppo K1 also touts a 6.4-inch FHD+ (1080×2340) waterdrop AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and over 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset is paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. We will know in a little while whether Oppo plans on launching both memory variants for the Indian market. Both the RAM versions come with 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

The Oppo K1 packs a 3,600mAh battery and sports 16MP + 2MP dual camera system on the back. The droplet notch on the front houses a 25MP selfie camera for crisp and detailed selfies. Given the specs and expected pricing, the Oppo K1 will look to take on the likes of the Realme 2 Pro and Mi A2 in the country.
